Petit Montgivrault Ferme

Post Command, 6th MG Battalion,
Battle of Belleau Wood

Entrance of Petit Montgivrault Ferme leading into courtyard.

Petit Montgivrault Ferme as seen from its courtyard.

The same building as in was in June 1918, when it
served as the regimental aid station for the 6th Marines.

Another view of same building,
further to the left.

The 6th MG Battalion command post was in a washroom
which no longer exists,
located in the orchard behind the farm,
at the corner of the wood on the left.

View from washroom location
(stones from washroom remains just visible on ground in the shadow),
looking across orchard.
Farm buildings beyond trees in distance.

A pair of British shoes found lying near the washroom.
These would have been worn by Navy Corpsmen.

The well, now dry, used to bring water to the washroom. Marines dug foxholes nearby.
