CABINET PHOTO OF ENLISTED MARINE
IN DRESS UNIFORM, 1915

Studio photograph taken in a Penny Arcade, Panama-California Exposition, 1915. An enlisted Marine [a dapper fellow in handlebar mustache, seated stylishly on a pedestal, with his arm resting on an adjacent pedestal], wearing a single-breasted dress uniform with standing collar, shoulder straps & 3-button cuffs. He also wears a bell-crowned cap with patent leather visor, on which EGA device is plainly visible. A Gun-pointer's insignia is plainly visible on his sleeve, but is anomalous in two respects: it is on his left rather than his right sleeve, and appears almost white in contrast to his coat-sleeve, and without a background patch. [They were supposed to be red on a blue patch].
