"I was in Iraq as the Operations Officer for 1/10 the artillery battalion
supporting Regimental Combat Team--2, during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. We
engaged targets according to the rules of engagement, in order to limit
collateral damage and limit civilian casualties. As you can see from the
photos the Iraqi defenders put their weapon systems in the densely packed
neighborhoods and continued to fight pushing civilian in front of them.
Both of the howitzer photos are in the eastern side of Nasiriyah. They were
crewed with ammo on the deck pointed toward Marine forces. They were
observed and engaged under the direction of UAVs." (UAV = Unmanned Aerial Vehicle)
