Cpl Hale was a teamster with Headquarters Detachment, 6th Machine Gun Battalion, and participated in all its engagements.

Cpl Hale was awarded the Croix de Guerre with gilt star and a Silver Star Certificate for actions at Blanc Mont in October, 1918.

Photo above taken sometime between January and March, 1919, in a photographer's studio in Neuweid-on-the-Rhine, Germany.
Photo below probably taken during training at Paris Island.

Croix de Guerre braid (with miniature braid),
Croix de Guerre medal, Victory Medal, two marksmanship medals,
Good Conduct Medal and Silver Star (issued in 1930s to winners of
Silver Star Certificate).

Croix de Guerre & Victory Medal
Victory Medal evidently lacks original
ribbon, which would have had
five battle clasps, four bronze stars &
silver star.

Silver Star
(issued in 1930s to recipients
of Silver Star Certificate).
