Volume 1, Number 10, Published Weekly. June  17, 1919, Nieuwied-on-the-Rhine, Germany.  VG. Wraps. 8.75x11. Staple bound. In nice, tight condition overall, except for a two inch x half-inch area at bottom of front cover where a sticker or label was removed, leaving a residue of paper behind. One word of text affected, but it is still visible through the residue. Centerfold torn 1/4" down from top. No other obvious flaws. There were 14 INDIANS published all told; thirteen in Germany & one aboard ship on the way home. All were published in 1919.  Each cover was unique: an original work of art by a member of the division.  The cover for this issue shows an orange & black drawing of the head & shoulders of an American Indian wearing a full headdress. Cover designed by Pvt E.F. Palmer, Second Ammunition Train. Inside the issue, the lead-off story is "Pretty Rhineland Wedding: Dan Cupid visits Army of Occupation, and Charming "Y" Girl Marries Dashing Lieutenant~ Romance begun in Old Kentucky Culminates at Wollendorf on the Rhine". The title says it all. Other features include a photograph and story of a 3-ton Packard truck which was with the 2nd Division since before Belleau Wood, was in every engagement of the Division, was driven over 9000 miles, and was never once in the shop for overhauling or repairs; a photograph and story about the 6th Marines, a full page drawing by a Marine with the 5th Regiment Band of an Indian chief resting under a tree within sight of the Statue of Liberty, entitled "Some Day", and a small photograph of the MessHall of 78th Co, 6th Marines in Rhinebrohl, Germany.  Also included are the regular column, "York Spur's Dope", brief stories, notices, original art, cartoons, editorials, gossip, poetry, sports, and news of individual soldiers & Marines, as well as of different companies & battalions. 16 double-column pages.  SCARCE.
