From New York. Born May 1st, 1881, Siegfried Narvitz was said to be a professor of Philosophy. His last given address in Paris was 32, Boissy d’Anglas, not far from the Place de la Concorde, in a “beau quartier” of the 8th arrondissement. He joined the Foreign Legion in August, 1914 and fought with the Régiment de Marche until July 4th, 1916 when he was killed in the charge of Belloy-en-Santerre, during the battle of the Somme. This means the 35 year old philosopher, of whom little is known, was killed by the same German machine guns that also took the life of his fellow American, the poet Alan Seeger. They died on the same battlefield that same July evening.
