~ SHIPPING RATES ~

The U.S. Postal Service raised its rates recently (May 2007), but I have decided not to pass that increase on to my customers. Therefore my shipping rates will remain what they have been for the past several years.

Media Mail: $4.00 first book, $1 each subsequent book.


Priority: $6.00 first book, $1.50 each subsequent book.


Oversized books may be charged at higher rate.
(We will notify you before charging you.)


Priority Mail is NOT available for Battery Press titles.


OVERSEAS ORDERS will be individually assessed.
When I receive the order, I wrap the book and take it to the post office to be weighed and to learn the cheapest methods of sending. I add a slight amount to cover shipping materials, then quote prices of available options to the customer, who can then choose.
NOTE: as of 14 May 2007,
due to changes in shipping rates & policies on the part of the U.S. Postal Service, surface mail for overseas orders is no longer available
.



ALL DOMESTIC DELIVERIES ARE GUARANTEED

You are not charged extra for insurance.
If a parcel is insured, it is at my cost. Delivery of your parcel is guaranteed whether I insure it or not. If you do not receive your package, you will receive a full refund, including postage both ways. If your book arrives damaged, email me first, describing the damage in detail. Then send the book back to me. If the actual damage matches your description, you will receive a full refund, including postage both ways. All my books are sent with Delivery Confirmation. When I have sent your book off, I will contact you with the tracking number and the USPS URL where you can keep track of your parcel's progress, if you care to.



RETURNS

In case of damage or non-delivery, see above. If the book you receive does not match my description of it, notify me first and describe the discrepancy between the book you received and my description. If I have failed to describe it accurately, you will receive a full refund, including postage both ways. If, on the other hand, I have described the book accurately, but you decide for whatever reason that you do not
want the book after all, you may still return the book for a full refund, minus postage both ways,, but you must notify me first by email, and you must do so within ten days of receiving the book.

After ten days, no returns are accepted.

When returning a book, wrap it carefully in the same materials I sent it in. If the returned book is damaged because you did not wrap it carefully, with adequate padding, I will deduct for the damage from your refund. If, on the other hand, you wrapped it well but the book was damaged anyway, you will receive the full refund.

MONONGAHELA BOOKS is enrolled in Trustwave's TrustKeeper® Compliance Validation Service to meet the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).

Trustwave and its TrustKeeper Compliance Validation Service has been accredited by all the major card associations' data security programs including:

Based upon information provided by MONONGAHELA BOOKS regarding its policies, procedures, and technical systems that store, process and/or transmit cardholder data, and the TrustKeeper scan of those systems, MONONGAHELA BOOKS as of Jan 14, 2009 has satisfactorily met the requirements of PCI DSS.


In addition to meeting the stringent security standards mandated by Trustwave, we take the additional precaution of deleting all card information as soon as the transaction is completed. WE NEVER STORE CREDIT CARD INFORMATION IN OUR OFFICES, OR ON OUR COMPUTERS. This makes the check-out procedure for return customers a bit slower, as they are obliged to re-enter their card information for each new purchase, but we are persuaded that security should never be compromised for the sake of convenience. For those customers not wishing to transmit credit card information online, PAYPAL EXPRESS can be used during the checkout process instead.

to anyone for any reason. Period.




PAYING BY CREDIT CARD

Ordering a book from anywhere on the Monongahela Books website will send you to an order page on a secure server where you will be provided with an address form to fill out. If your billing address is different from your shipping address, please provide both addresses. You will be given the option of having your address information stored for future transactions, but this will not occur unless you specify it. You are then given a choice of paying by credit card, or some other means. If paying by card, you will be provided with another form for that purpose. Your card information will not be stored. For further details, see the "Security" section above. Once I have processed your credit card order and sent off your parcel, I will inform you by email that it has been sent and tell you the precise amount your card has been charged.

If you have a PayPal account and prefer to pay by that method, simply click on the PayPal button instead of the "Go To Payments" button, and you will be taken to the PayPal site to complete your purchase.


If you prefer to convey your card information by phone, you may do so by calling
304-292-6481, though it may be difficult to get through, as I still use a dial-up connection through that line.

Charges for books ordered through this site
will appear on your credit card statement from
MONONGAHELA BOOKS.

PAYING BY CHECK OR MONEY ORDER

If you prefer to pay by check or money order, I will respond to your order with an email informing you of the amount including shipping, so that you know the correct figure to write on your check. I will ship your parcel the same day I receive your check, if possible, or the following business day. I will let you know when your check has arrived and when your parcel is in the mail.

REPEAT CUSTOMERS WILL HAVE THEIR ORDERS

BOOKS ON BACK-ORDER

On occasion, with new books obtained directly from publishers, a particular title may be temporarily out of stock. In such cases I will contact you immediately and let you know there will be a delay. If you wish to cancel your order, that will be fine, but if you do not mind waiting, your card will not be charged until the book is sent to you, If the back-ordered title is a single order, you will be charged the usual postage, but if it is part of a larger order, the rest of which has already sent to you, you will only be charged $1.00 postage for the late book (sent Media Mail).

I try to update this site daily, so that all items offered for sale are still available, but occasionally, if two orders for a single item come through at about the same time, one buyer will be disappointed. If this happens to you, be advised that I keep a record of wants, and will notify you if and when I can find another copy.
