N.Y.: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1916. VG+. First Edition, with Scribner's colophon on title page. In very nice condition, with slight amount of wear to corner. Tiny hole to bottom left corner of spine where fabric has worn through, about the size of a pinhead. Book overall is tight & crisp, with unfaded maroon covers and gilt lettering still bright. INSCRIBED BY ALAN SEEGER'S MOTHER, on the front flyleaf: "For dear Mrs Antolini, from Alan's mother, her sincere 'old' friend. Elsie Adams Seeger. January 21st, 1944." Opposite the inscription, on the front endpage, Mrs Seeger has pasted a photograph portrait of Alan Seeger at age two, with "Alan, Age 2 Years" written in her hand below it. Alan Seeger was the uncle of folksinger Pete Seeger. 174 pages. An exceptional association copy.
