Also some light discoloration to rear cover & some soiling to bottom page edges. 251 pp. A history of Bellevue hospital, from its founding in New York in 1815, through its service in Vichy, France, during WWI. Also includes a history of Evacuation Hospital #8 northeast of Souilly, during the St Mihiel and Argonne offensives. Maps, drawings, many photographs, poems & songs, complete rosters of hospital personnel, and a long section of anecdotes about individual wounded soldiers in their wards. Several anecdotes concern individual Marines, and the re are several photographs of Marines recuperating on the hospital grounds. Bellevue received casualties from Belleau Wood, Chateau Thierry, Soissons, St Mihiel and the Argonne, among other battles.
