Unidentified Members of the 6th Machine Gun Battalion

Can You Identify Them?

Unidentified officer,
probably with 81st Company

Detail from a panoramic photograph of the 6th Machine Gun Battalion, taken in Washington, D.C., on August 12th, 1919.

Close-up photos from the full length of the photograph will eventually be shown below, though only of those individuals in the first few front rows, as faces in rows farther back are not sufficiently clear to be recognised. More individual photos will be added as time permits.

In addition to this photo, another was taken at the same time showing the men with their helmets on. I will eventually display portions of that photo as well, but the men are most recognisable, of course, without their helmets.

Battalions & companies of the 4th Brigade of Marines also had panoramic unit photos taken while in Germany, in the Spring & early Summer of 1919. If ever I can obtain a photo of the 6th MGB in Germany, I will mount it here as well, but to date I have not been able to find one.

Special thanks to Jill Mason for donating this photograph to our organization.

If you recognise
any of these Marines
give a holler
down the dugout

to "The Skipper" ~
he'll appreciate it.
